Bare trees are the living sculptures of the city, shifting the urban atmosphere throughout winter and early spring. A constant geometry stretching overhead, what appears as a chaotic tangle of organic growth is actually governed by strict mathematical order. Tree canopies expand through fractal geometry—a repeating, optimized structure designed to balance weight and capture light.

When compressed against a flat backdrop of a grey, cloudy sky, this underlying architecture is exposed. Strong, dark intersecting lines superimpose the atmosphere, fracturing the negative space. The sky is no longer an empty expanse, but a divided canvas, carved into a new, geometric structure by the weight of dark wooden branches.

The rigid borders of the camera frame intentionally limit this phenomenon.
